What's on TV?

Oh hey!
I've been sooo bored lately. Welcome to winter in Canada ladies and gentlemen! What does one do when one is stuck inside with 6ft of snow outside one's door? Reads, drinks tea...and watches TV.
So without further adieu here are some of the shows that I have been binge watching ( oh the joys of Nteflix!) over the last month or so.

First up: Gossip Girl
Ok don't judge me. I was in high school when this show was actually playing and it sooooo was not my thing. Not that I had actually seen it. It was THE show to watch and therefore I didn't watch it. But I was flicking through Netflix and I saw that it had just been added and the poster looked cool so I decided to give it a shot. And have basically been watching it ever since.

At first I was scared that it would be like Pretty Little Liars, where the characters are so dumb they make me ashamed to be a girl. But Gossip Girl is nothing like that. It basically follows the lives of rich kids from the Upper Eastside as told by the mysterious Gossip Girl, who runs a website that post all the lateset gossip. I know, the plot line sound thin but the characters are really well developed and seem very real. Just when you really start to hate a character (ahem Chuck Bass!) they will turn around and do something completely unexpected. They're are no good and evil characters in this show, everyone is a bit of both even Blair Waldorf.

Another thing I enjoy about this show are the great costumes and settings. It a a fun show to watch aesthetically. Part of the fun is seeing what cool and crazy outfits everyone will be wearing next.

There are sooo many twist and turns in this show. There are so many times when I find myself screaming " JUST TELL THE TRUTH ALREADY!!!" at the TV. But overall I love it and it's really worth watching. And there are 6 seasons on Netflix. Score!!!!

Next up is Hart of Dixie
I just saw this on sale at Wal-Mart and thought it looked interesting. And overall, I'm glad I bought it. It's about Zoe Hart, a surgeon from New York who decides to go Bluebell, Alabama to gain experience  she needs to become a heart surgeon. But when she gets there she discovers that the man who suggested that she come to Bluebell has died and left her his practice. Because she is his daughter.

I wasn't sure I liked this show but it was grown on me. It's just light and fun to watch and there is an entertaining cast of characters that kind of remind me of the Gilmore Girls.

And last but DEFINITELY not least...
SHERLOCK!!!!

Out of all of the shows I've talked about this is by far my favourite. It is a modern take on the classic stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Why is this show so awesome?
Benedict Cumberbatch palys Sherlock. I mean, come on! He does an amazing job of showing what a genius Sherlock is about most things and how clueless he is about others.  You're in awe of him one moment and want to punch him in the face the next. And those cheekbones!

The friendship between Sherlock and Watson in this version makes the show. They are different but equal. Not that Sherlock would think so. There is an easiness between them that is fun to watch and somethimes pretty hilarious.

The writing in this show is really well done. It's smart and fast moving yet still spends enough time on the characters so really feel like  you know them. Which is important to me in case you haven't guessed. Also the deductions Sherlock makes are awesome and really fun to watch. It must be so fun to write those things!

I just can't say enough about Sherlock! If you want to watch it, the first 2 seasons are on Netflix and the 3rd season is on now on PBS. Each season has 3 90min long episodes so savour them!

Well, there you have it, my latest TV obsessions! If you seen any of these shows or you have any suggestions, please a comment below!

Until next time!

Downton Abbey Feels

The fourth season of Downton Abbey started a couple of weeks ago and to say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement!

Downton Abbey is without a doubt one of my favourite TV shows so I was thrilled to hear it would be back for another season. For those of you who have never seen it, Downton is the story of the Crawley family and the people who work for them. The story follows a whole cast of characters- from the Earl of Grantham to Daisey the kitchen maid- as they carry out their lives under the roof of a grand manor house called Downton Abbey. Not DownTOWN Abbey lol.

The first season began in 1912 and the new season begins in 1922. So all in all the show has covered  ten years so far. It's a really amazing show. It feels like one of those sprawling, epic novels that you don't want to put down. I think part of the reason this show has become so popular is because the characters feel so real. You begin to care about them and so you tune in every week to see what's going to happen next.

As far as seaso four goes, I'm really enjoying it so far. I don't want to give anything away, but last season was pretty intense. It's going to take everyone( viewers included!) a long time to recover. But  I think the...umm...CHANGES made last season open the way for a lot more plot development in season four. However, I do NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES want the new maid Edna to get with Branson! I can't even discribe to you how angry that would make me! I don't trust her and I think she is definitely going to stir up trouble. Also it would make me really angry if Mary gets into a new relationship so soon. That's all I ask.

Downton Abbey is on Sundays at 9:00 on PBS if you want to check it out!!!

Pic o' the Day

This just makes me laugh! Downton Abbey forever!

The NO RESOLUTION Resolution

It's that time of year again! Today is the last day of 2013. WHOO HOO! I can't believe how quickly this year has gone! And like pretty much every year before it, people are looking ahead to 2014 and making all sorts of "New Years Resoultions".  There are all sorts of resolutions ranging from "lose that last ten pounds" to "learn a new language" or "eat more spinach" and everything in between. But this year my New Years Resolution is...*drumroll*...not to make a New Years Resolution!

I know that sounds weird and sounds like it defeats the entire purpose of writing this all down but hear me out. Here's the thing: I'm not terribly good at doing what I'm told. Not in a scary BA kind of way( wish!) but in a I was going to do that but now I'm not just because you told me to kind of way. For example when I was about 8 I took piano lessons from my great-aunt who is just about the sweetest lady you will ever meet. And I hated it. Not because I didn't like playing piano but because I totally resented whenever she corrected me or told me to do something. Which is basically what teaching is. She was just doing her job. So as you can imagine the whole learning the piano thing didn't last very long.

Anyway the point of this long winded story is I hate being told what to do or being made to do something, even things I don't even mind doing. Does that make sense? So as you can imagine resolution don't last very long with me. Which is dumb because esentially I'm telling myself what to do. But every year I make resolutions and don't do anything about them because I feel like I'm being forced into them. So this year I'm not making any.

However here's what I am going to do. I'm going to try to be a happier person. I don't mean that I have a hard life and I'm so sad or anything. I just mean that I'm going to try to be more optimistic. I can  be a real Eyore sometimes (oh bother no point in trying, I didn't think it would work anyway) I'm going to try to avoid that. I've come to the conclusion that it's better to look on the bright side, to concentrate on what you have not what you don't and not to compaire yourself with others. If you wake up and tell yourself it's going to be a good day, there is a better chance that it WILL be a good day. This isn't set in stone, everyone has crappy days where you want to eat chocolate and drink tea and stay in bed. But it sure helps.

So that's what I'm going to do this year. Wake up everyday and remind myself of all the reasons I have to be happy. But don't get me wrong, that's not a resolution!:-p

Pic o' the Day

Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting circa 1968. Love them!

So What Do I Write Now?

Why is it I can have so many good ideas at random times of the day and then I sit down to write them and they disappear? Lol story of my life. So because I can't think of anything intelligent and meaningful to write, here is the amazingly interesting stuff that's on my mind at this exact moment in time:
  1.Peppermint hot chocolate is DELICIOUS!!!!
   2. This is the least interesting blog post ever
   3. The new album by The Wanted is kind of crap, which is sad because I really like them.
   4. I really want it to be February 4th because Romeo and Juliet comes out on DVD and I'm having major R and J feels. Did anyone get a chance to go see that movie in theatres? My Mom and I went at Thanksgiving and it was totally amazing!!!!! We were literally the only ones in the theatre and it was perfection!
  5. It is just unfair how hot Douglas Booth is! I mean look at this guy!
   6. I really really REALLY don't want to go to work😭
   7. One Direction's new album makes me proud
   8. I wish I was Olivia Hussey. Don't know who that is? Hmmmm maybe I'll save that for another time
  9. I really need to pee. Is that TMI?
 10. It feels really good to be writing again even though I sound slightly crazy...ok a lot crazy.

There you have it! I promise something a little more substantial next time😜

You know you love me (gold stars if you get that reference!)
Till we met again
